A Commentary on the Palmer Trucks: Truck Paper Ads.

Every week Kenworth of Indianapolis advertises with Truck Paper it's Heavy Duty Trucks for sale and if necessary Medium Duty Truck for sale.
Print Ad
One of the slight disadvantages of going to the print ad is that especially our late model Used Truck for Sale inventory has been in demand as of late.
The deadline for these truck websites is a week before the print ad comes out. So be advised that a phone call before your visit to your Kenworth dealer  is highly recommended.
Web Content
Truck Paper shows it's search results by listing it's used trucks for sale by trucks that are in the print ads.

Kenworth T700 on Speed TV

Monday, May 2, 2011 by Jake Nichols

Episode 8: Kenworth T700

Often imitated, never equaled, the Kenworth T700 is the ultimate truck on the road. With the lowest aerodynamic drag of any Kenworth truck and optimal fuel efficiency, this 18 Wheeler is a smooth sailing workhorse. The T700's lower sleeker design and rounded edges control airflow and reduce wind drag. And this truck is built for luxury- a towering eight feet of headroom, 60 cubic feet of storage and all the creature comforts in the sleeper- flat panel TV and a drawer style refrigerator. We'll visit Kenworth's design visualization room in Renton, Washington, where engineers wear special 3D goggles to view real-sized images of trucks projected on a 16-by-20-foot screen. Engineers can rotate or flip the virtual truck, or peer at it from any angle, to test new designs and evaluate potential assembly challenges. At the Chillicothe, Ohio factory we see the T700 built from the ground up in power and style- chassis creation, panel installation, power train assembly, and cab and sleeper install.

PHOENIX (April 17, 2011)
– The Kenworth T700 with PACCAR MX engine (heavy-duty) Kenworth T700 for Saleand the 2012 Hino model 338 (medium-duty) were named the winners of the American Truck Dealers Commercial Truck of the Year for 2011.

The top commercial trucks—selected by a panel of journalists from leading truck publications—were announced today at the 48th annual ATD Convention and Expo, which runs through Monday, April 18, at the Phoenix Convention Center.

Bill Kozek, general manager of Kenworth and vice president of PACCAR, accepted the award on behalf of the company’s more than 300 dealers across the country.

Kozek said the T700 was designed with improved aerodynamics, cost of operation and first-class styling in mind. The T700 also provides outstanding driver comfort, advanced technology and excellent residual value, he said.

Sumio Fukaya, president/CEO of Hino Motor Sales, U.S.A, Inc., and chairman of Hino Motors Manufacturing, U.S.A., Inc., said winning the award will help Hino achieve its corporate mission “to make the world a better place to live by helping people and goods get where they need to go—safely, economically and with environmental responsibility.”

The other nominees in the heavy-duty category were the International ProStar+ with MF 13 engine and Peterbilt Model 386 lightweight sleeper-cab tractor. Other medium-duty truck nominees were the Ford F650/F750 Super Duty, International TerraStar, Isuzu NPR Eco-Max, Kenworth T370 4x4 and Peterbilt Model 337 4x4.

The ATD Commercial Truck of the Year recognizes one winner from the medium-duty truck category (classes 3-7) and another from the heavy-duty truck category (class 8). The trucks were judged on innovation, design, driver and owner satisfaction, ease of maintenance and safety.

The 2011 Hino 268 (medium-duty) and Peterbilt Model 384 (heavy-duty) were last year’s winners.

About the ATD Convention

Keynote speakers included ATD Chairman Kyle Treadway and Bill Graves, president of the American Trucking Associations. Political analyst Charlie Cook will headline the convention’s first-ever legislative and regulatory affairs session on Monday, April 18.

Truck dealers also had an opportunity to meet face-to-face with their manufacturer executives at 12 franchise meetings and with suppliers on the expo floor.

More than a dozen workshop sessions were offered for dealers and their managers to learn ways to improve their business operations.

Test Fleets Giving Eaton’s UltraShift® PLUS Transmissions High Marks

LOUISVILLE, K.Y..… Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation today revealed details of positive customer evaluations of its new UltraShift PLUS automated transmissions.

“These initial reviews have been across-the-board positive,” said Staci Kroon, senior vice president and general manager for Eaton’s Commercial Vehicle Transmission business. “So much so, in fact, we see a very bright future for UltraShift PLUS in a broad range of commercial truck applications.”

Following is what three of those test fleets customers, each with a uniquely configured and different platform of UltraShift PLUS transmission, had to say:

UltraShift PLUS LAS – Linehaul Active Shifting

Sean Webb, director of maintenance for Pride Transport, has been in the forefront of a yearlong evaluation of an UltraShift PLUS LAS transmission, which has been configured for linehaul service. Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, Pride Transport is a refrigerated carrier providing coast-to-coast service throughout the U.S.

Webb, who has been with Pride Transport for 26 years, said that after driving the vehicle, he was impressed with the transmission performance. “The Hill Start Aid feature is especially impressive, as is the way the transmission backs up and allows for really smooth hook-ups,” said Webb. “It is a huge improvement over the older automated transmissions.”

Webb adds that he has not had one issue with the transmission since it debuted at Pride Transport, and the current driver “must like it because we have not heard from him regarding anything negative.”

Pride Transport currently runs about 300 power units and roughly 450 trailers. All future new truck purchases, adds Webb, “will definitely include the new transmission. In fact, I’d like to have them in all of my trucks right now if I could.”

UltraShift PLUS VMS – Vocational Multipurpose Series

Colin Pinkerton, professional engineer and equipment manager for Lafarge, Inc. conducted his evaluation with no less than 54 ready-mix trucks with UltraShift PLUS VMS transmissions. He also experienced three hands-on test drives at the Eaton Proving Grounds in Marshall, Mich.

“The curb and gutter work that we were able to accomplish in low-low hold mode was outstanding,” says Pinkerton, the 37-year trucking industry veteran. “Operating at less than one mile-per-hour, we were capable of pouring 55 to 65 feet per minute. That’s very important to us, as that type of performance really improves our overall efficiency and will definitely help us operate more profitably.”

Pinkerton is equally enthusiastic with the transmission’s ease of operation and enhanced safety features. “We like the fact that our drivers do not have to worry about shifting the UltraShift PLUS transmissions,” says Pinkerton. “Because they are now keeping both hands on the wheel and both eyes on the road, our drivers are much more attentive to driving the truck instead of constantly having to be concerned with shifting gears.”

UltraShift PLUS VCS – Vocational Construction Series

Chad McCormick, supervisor for T.J. Hunt Trucking, Chattanooga, Tenn., was one of the earliest fleets to test the new UltraShift PLUS transmissions. T.J. Hunt has been in business for 13 years and currently runs 19 dump trucks.

“About 95 percent of our business is hauling and dumping asphalt to assist in paving of interstates and local roads,” says McCormick. “The new transmission has exceeded the expectations of the three operators who have used it for more than a year-and-a-half now.”
During that period, his UltraShift PLUS VCS transmission has accumulated more than 60,000 miles. “We are all in agreement that the shifting decisions are perfect and the pulling power is right where we want it to be for our operations,” adds McCormick. “We also like the fact that clutch adjustments are a thing of the past with the new transmissions. It’s a great product.”

Kenworth T700 Concludes it's North American Tour

Monday, January 24, 2011 by Jake Nichols
Kenworth T700, PACCAR MX Engine showcase on the road.

Palmer Trucks was proud to host the Paccar T700 tour last year and look forward
on showchasing the great product of the T700 in 2011.

We have the Kenworth T700 for sale in stock
If you would like to test drive the unit contact our sales staff for an appointment.

KIRKLAND, Wash., Sept. 30, 2010 — Word of mouth and an overwhelmingly positive reaction to the Kenworth T700 and the PACCAR MX engine has convinced Kenworth to extend the U.S. tour another month and an additional 2,400 miles from Hermon, Maine, to Pharr, Texas.

“The Kenworth T700 and the PACCAR MX drew large crowds of truck operators everywhere they stopped along the route of the recent tour through the United States and Canada,” said Gary Moore, Kenworth assistant general manager for marketing and sales. “The interest energized our dealers and created excitement among customers, particularly as they learned more about the extremely quiet, smooth and fuel-efficient PACCAR MX Engine and heard it for themselves.”

Kenworth’s T700 and PACCAR MX Engine Tour concludes its Canadian run with a stop at Bayview Kenworth in Moncton, New Brunswick on Oct. 1. The encore U.S. tour will then continue with a stop at C-B Kenworth-Bangor in Hermon, Maine, on Oct. 5. The tour continues through Oct. 28 with stops in Connecticut, Ohio, Illinois, Nebraska and Texas as follows: Tri-State Kenworth, Enfield, Conn. (Oct. 7); Youngstown Kenworth, Hubbard, Ohio (Oct. 15); Rockford Kenworth, Loves Park, Ill. (Oct. 18); Sahling Kenworth, Kearney, Neb. (Oct. 20); Kenworth of South Texas, Converse, Texas (Oct. 26); and Kenworth of South Texas, Pharr, Texas (Oct. 28).

“This tour extension allows more truck operators, who may not have gotten the opportunity before, to see the most aerodynamic truck in Kenworth’s history and the fuel-efficient 2010 PACCAR MX engine,” Moore said. “They can also talk with veteran truck driver Mike McDowell, who drove the T700 all over the continental United States during the initial five-month, 20,000-mile tour.”

Baylor Trucking Wreath One Kenworth T700 leads convoy for Wreaths Across America

Monday, December 20, 2010 by Palmer Sales Team
Palmer Trucks Kenworth of Cincinnati would like to salute the Baylor Trucking organization to their committment to remembering and honoring Veterans. A worthly mission for those who sacrifice. Below are the news stories of the journey, or check out Baylor Trucking on Facebook for the pictures.

Wreaths Across America

Kenworth T700 Baylor Trucking
Published December, 11 2010

The Ride of Pride, an 18-wheeler owned by Schneider National that is decorated to honor the men and women in the armed services, made its second annual trip to Arlington National Cemetery for this year’s ceremony. Tony Cunningham, a Schneider National driver associate since 2002 who retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service, was behind the wheel of the Ride of Pride.

Cunningham began the 2010 Wreaths Across America journey on Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Harrington, Maine, headquarters for the Veterans Honor parade. The convoy of trucks gathered to load semitrailers with wreaths and made stops at schools and cemeteries as it traveled down Route 1 to Washington, D.C.

Baylor Trucking’s “Wreath One” led the convoy of nearly 30,000 wreaths to be laid at Arlington. Baylor President and Army veteran Bob Baylor drove “Wreath One,” a flag-adorned Kenworth truck, throughout the weeklong processional of 10 states. “This is an experience that has touched my heart as a veteran, and I am inspired by our country’s patriotism,” says Baylor. “It is wonderful to see school-age children to WII Veterans waving flags, singing ‘God Bless America’ and showing pride in our Red, White and Blue.”

“It has been a life-changing experience to participate.” says Cari Baylor, who rode with her father, Bob. “Every stop on the processional etches another memory on my heart of the families and soldiers who have shown bravery to keep us free.” Bob, his wife, Beth, and Cari joined thousands of volunteers on Saturday, Dec. 11, to lay the memorial wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery. Wreath ceremonies continued at The Pentagon and the Vietnam Veterans, Korean War and WWII memorials.

This year, Wreaths Across America donated more than 319,000 memorial wreaths for ceremonies held in every state, as well as Pearl Harbor and 24 national cemeteries overseas. This year, every victim of the 9/11 tragedy was honored with a tribute wreath. Baylor Trucking also donated trucks to cover the national cemeteries throughout the Midwest.

Baylor Trucking and Schneider National both participated in last weekend’s campaign for Wreaths Across America, a nonprofit organization that promotes veterans’ remembrance. Its mission is to remember and honor veterans by placing wreaths at the graves of fallen military members during the holidays – a time of traditional family gatherings – and teach children that we are able to gather, in peace, because of the many sacrifices made by military men and women. Through the effort and in one short week, tens of thousands of wreaths were placed nationwide.
